A western PEI golf trip can include an 18-hole round near Summerside, a forest course at Mill River and a shorter nine-hole game at St. Felix. Mont Carmel, about twenty minutes from Summerside, gives you a place to stay between rounds without changing rooms each night. Choose your courses and tee times first, then check the drive from your accommodation.
Which western PEI golf courses should you look at?
Tourism PEI's North Cape Coastal Golf Itinerary includes Summerside Golf & Country Club, St. Felix Golf Course and Mill River Golf Course. They offer different kinds of rounds: Summerside and Mill River are listed as 18-hole courses, while St. Felix is nine holes.
Mill River is in the North Cape Coastal Drive region. Tourism PEI describes rolling fairways, bunkered greens, lakes and streams across its 18 holes. Its location makes it a reasonable course to consider if you also want to explore western PEI beyond Summerside.
Summerside Golf & Country Club may suit a day when you also plan to spend time in the city. St. Felix offers a shorter round farther west. Use the course websites to confirm current tee times, fees, rentals and opening dates. Those details can change from one season to the next.
How should you put the rounds together?
Start with the course that matters most to you and book its tee time. Then decide whether your second round belongs on the same day or another day. PEI has more than 25 courses across the Island, but there is no need to plan a trip around the full list.
Tourism PEI's golf itinerary gives one possible order for the North Cape Coastal region. Its golf listings give you a broader view if you want to compare courses elsewhere on PEI. Check driving directions rather than assuming two courses that share a touring region are close together.
Leave time for something beyond golf, too. A visit to the coast or an afternoon in Summerside is easier to enjoy when you are not trying to reach another tee time. If you are travelling with someone who does not golf, check what else is open near the course on that day.
How does breakfast work before a tee time?
Breakfast is included at Heron's Nest Sanctuary and is served from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. For a morning round, compare your tee time with the course's check-in guidance and the drive from Mont Carmel. An early tee time could mean leaving before breakfast service begins, so ask Brian and Beverly about your plans before you book.
The breakfast menu includes eggs, waffles, French toast, a yogurt bowl and fruit. The full menu is available before you book.
What is the stay like after golf?
Heron's Nest is a one-room bed and breakfast in Brian and Beverly Cooper's home. The guest room sleeps up to two people, and parking is free. The bathroom, kitchen and common areas are shared with the hosts. Outside, guests have access to the gardens, decks and backyard.
The Stay page shows the room and links to Airbnb for current availability and prices. Check course bookings separately, since a room reservation does not include tee times.
